Our Beginnings

From Romania's Grills to Daventry's High Street

Shaormania was born out of a simple, burning passion: to bring the authentic, rich flavors of the Romanian grătar (charcoal barbecue) and the craft of rotisserie shawarma to the hearts of food lovers in Northamptonshire.

Traditional Romanian street food is built on fire, smoke, and hospitality. Back home, gathering around a hot grill loaded with sizzling, garlic-infused mici, spicy sausages, and marinated pork neck is a weekly family ritual. We wanted to package that authentic experience, mixed with the fast-paced energy of a modern shawarma kitchen, and bring it directly to Daventry.

Every morning, our kitchen prep team cuts fresh British chicken and beef, layering the spit and marinating it in our house blend of herbs and spices. When you order, you're not just getting fast food — you're getting a slice of Romanian family tradition, grilled fresh over hot fire.

What Guides Us

The Three Pillars

Traditional Fire-Grilling

We refuse to cut corners. True Romanian mici and sausages need the intense heat of hot charcoal to release their deep, caramelized flavors.

Family Recipe Focus

From our roasted sweet pepper garlic dip to our blackcurrant papanași sauce, every single element is made using family recipes passed down through generations.

Genuine Romanian Hospitality

We welcome every guest like they are sitting at our dining table. Warm smiles, quick service, and generous, budget-friendly portions are our promise.

The Grătar is Always Hot

At Shaormania, the grill is the beating heart of our shop. We keep our live-fire grill stoked throughout the day, ensuring that every order of mici, pork collar (ceafă), and chicken thighs is cooked immediately.

Our rotisseries turn continuously, carving thin, caramelized slivers of chicken and beef directly onto warm flatbreads, seasoned with fresh salads, homemade garlic sauces, and hot cheese-smothered fries.

And for the grand finale, our dessert chef fries fresh cottage cheese dough on the spot to make our signature papanași. We top them with cold heavy cream and dark blackcurrant jam for a contrast of temperatures and flavors that leaves our guests absolutely wowed.

Community Welcome

Celebrating Our Daventry Opening

On Saturday, 4th July, we officially opened our doors at Truva House on Chapel Lane, Daventry. The support we received from our neighbors, the local Romanian community, and food explorers was absolutely overwhelming. We fired up the grill at noon and kept it sizzling non-stop until late in the evening. We are so proud to be part of Daventry’s thriving high street and look forward to grilling for you for years to come.
